Two Weeks and Counting ‘Til Trivia!

Start getting that Dead Pool list ready! Ethan currently has the lead and the last few weeks have been pretty quiet, as has most of the year. Unless the Grim Reaper decides to make some sweeping changes (hahahaha HA! OK, I guess I’m the only one that thought that was funny…) Ethan will walk away with the Dead Pool 2011 trophy. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy!

Visual Trivia Update: We’re doing alright with these but the action has slowed down a bit – oh well. Remember to ask all you know (and those yo don’t ;) )about these. Overall there aren’t that many left so it’s all good. You might have trouble accessing the forums because of the website changes. If you’re one that’s having trouble, EMAIL ME and I’ll set ya up.

Next week (the 4th) we’ll most likely be having an HQ gathering to do final setups and testing. We’ll put out the word through the regular channels (here and Facebook) so keep yer eyes peeled.

Should be an interesting year with a new HQ and a new attitude, we can’t wait!

Shiney Shiney!!!

Nice new coat of paint for the D.O.A. Hole site! New things like Latest Dead Pool hits and better/quicker access to Desktops and Galleries. I’ll be fixing a few of the smaller bugs (mostly design) in the coming weeks. The forums have changed location as well. If you’ve bookmarked it at the old /forums/ location, you’ll get errors. Use the link in the new menu above to reach it and rebookmark that one. You’ll always login from there now instead of the front page as before.

Visual trivia is off to a nice start as well with quite a few found. Of course things were slow around the holidays but I expect to see the action heat up after the first.

Also, be on the alert about a team party/meeting sometime mid-Jan. We’ve got a lot of fun ideas for this year and this will be the main planning stage for much of it – you won’t want to miss out!

Ethan Takes the Lead!!!

Ethan takes the lead in Dead Pool 2011 with Kim Jong Il. With two months left in a very slow year, this might be enough to let him walk home with the trophy. As Joe mentioned the other day, “It’s cold and flu season, ya know…” Who can tell?

Visual Trivia is Here!

We picked up the visual trivia packet this morning and there’s a staggering 77 images over 24 pages this year. WOW! We’ve made some really good headway in knocking out 45 of them already, not bad for one day of work.

Since there are so many it will take longer to get them all set up in the forums. I’m hoping to have them done by the weekend – we shall see. As usual, there are some real killers (barrels anyone?) so remember to pester your friends, family and coworkers over the holiday season to see if any of these ring any bells.

If you’ve forgotten your login/password for the forums, use the links under the signin form at left to retrieve them. If all esle fails we can create a new one for you, just email me with what you want as username and password.

Colonel Potter Permanently Retires from the MASH 4077

Harry Morgan, Colonol Potter and Detective Bannon from Dragnet passed today. That gives Joe Regan, the former Grim Reaper, his first his this year.

Remember too, this next Thursday, the 15th, is Visual Trivia Day! We’ll be gathering 9am at KVSC’s studio to get the visuals followed by a nice greasy breakfast then on to the new HQ to eat, drink, socialize and trivialize. If you don’t know where Club D.O.A. Hole is, email me.

Dead Pool Updates

You know what I can’t stand? Website administrators who can’t update their website on a regular basis. It’s even worse when they do it for a living.

You know what else I hate? When some famous person – I mean really famous, not just a flash in the pan, pop-culture type – dies and no one in the major media covers it. Take Bil Keane for instance, “America’s ‘Family’ Man” passes at 89 years of age two weeks ago and not a single blip on the media radar. Entertaining folks since 1936 with some of the cleanest American family humor ever published. Not to mention that Becky had hiim on her dead pool list this year. I mean, come on!

And here’s what really gets my goat. Someone like me, who spend 30 years longer than neccesary on television passes and some one armed web monkey can’t update a single thing on a site whos major draw is a list of famous people dying. Am I not “famous” enough?  What, you think you’ve got better things to do? Why did you even start this thing in the first place? Zach must have been waiting longer for him to update this thing than people waiting for me to trim my eyebrows.

Disappointing.

A Dedication to Trivia Pudding – or – Our New Team Theme Song

OK. Becky and I love to watch baaaaaad movies. Some are worse than others. And then there are the worst. This is a short post about one of them with silvery-brown lining.

The movie: MONSTURD! This is one horrible movie. Writing, story, acting, effects – nothing redeemable about it. Why we watched the entire thing is beyond us. In the end (heh), out of laziness, I didn’t immediately turn the movie off and let the credits roll as we wondered why we just wasted the last hour and a half. Then this happened…

Number Two: The Ballad of the Monsturd

A little gem buried in the waste of all that celluloid just waiting to be found. Click it and enjoy.
