Update 6-26-09 - The Hollywood Trifecta is Now in Play.
The jokes write themselves. Micheal Jackson's death apparently comes as no surprize to John, who gets his first red mark ever. Makes you wonder what John knows about the others on his list.
It's a pretty hot competition lately with a total of seven scratched off the list and not a single double for anyone. Becky thinks she's still the best bet with Patrick Swayze laying very low on the H'Wood radar. We'll see how that pans out for her. (not that we're not all a little competitive!)

This is one relentless bug - the 2006 Image Gallery will be down until further notice, sorry. I'm really trying to keep from having to rebuild the site from the ground up - I just don't have the time right now...

If you're reading this, it means one of a couple things... I've gotten the site delisted as a threat, you're persistant and took the risk that this site won't harm your computer, OR you have an older browser (and you should probably update).
Apparently the software that I used to run the forums has a security flaw that some malicous bug found and made use of. That, in turn, made this domain suspect in the eyes of Google and a few other search engines/browsers. I'm in the process of cleaning the DOA Hole server and getting the good (heh) name of D.O.A. Hole.com cleared as safe.
The price of freeware, I guess.
Update 6-01-09 - Titanic is now officially nothing but history.

After 13 years the love is still strong! 14th Place this year and things went smoothly. A few highlights? Guiness! Yay! Creature Feature hour (awesome audio hour). A visit from the questions writers at midnight. Being the most obnoxious team to attend the award ceremony. Yeah, it was a great time. Now starts the preperation for next year.
Congradulations to Joe (booooooo, hisssssssss) for his second straight win. It was nice to see the trophy back at the HQ, even if it was only for 50 hours. I should have the Dead Pool 2009 picks posted by the end of the day. And yes, Kennedy, Swayzee, Ginsburg and Ebert were the first four choosen.

Anyway, Brian, (not Russ) has scored a direct hit with Ricardo Montalban (Rich Corinthian Leather's team should be having a memorial about right now...) finally succumbing to old age.Ya know, Joe, all Becky needs is two more in the next month to tie you... She says she's up for it. :) I've also noted that the ones that are getting hits (besides Joe) arevery close in the list to him. Almost like the blood is slowly dripping away from the mass amounts of red in Joes list.
In other Trivia news - progress is being made on the visuals, we're down to eight left - whoo hoo! I'm going to try and get the reception issue fixed in the basement this weekend and we're starting to move the library indoors to thaw out in time. Four more weeks!

The contest is over and we placed 18th. Tough year with a number of team members unable to attend but we fared it through. I want to personally thanks everyone who played this year, we couldn't have done it without all of you - besides, the more the merrier!
The Dead Pool picks are up as well! Congratulations to Joe who not only took the trophy home, he's the first one to do it alone and not have to share it during the year. The decision to up the count to 10 picks per person again will make this coming year even more exciting (and keep people coming back here more often) as this makes 110 people overall to watch for. Good luck to everyone!
And yes, I'll try to have pics online before May! If anyone has photos they want to add to the pics gallery, email me and we can set something up. DON'T email me something out of the blue unless you know it's small! Whew. one or two pics through email is fine but I've got much better ways of you took a lot of photos, we can put it on our ftp site instead.

Death of the Vault and Birth of the Forums and New Desktops. After some communication difficulties and logistical snafu's, the decision's been made to use a forum style feedback system for the team instead of the Vault. The forums are secure and can only be viewed when approved so if you want info, sign up and wait for me to approve ya. This is where you get what you need that we don't want everyone else to know we have (like our favorite recipes for Trivia food!).
I've started to design this years themed desktops so stop on over and get yours in the Desktops area - easy isn't it?

Well, well, well..... Looks like someones pulling into the lead on our Dead Pool. Seems that the recent passing of Merv Griffin (NOT on anyone's list) has got some people checking up on their favorite picks. Nicole missed one of hers that passed two weeks after picking him. THAT means that Nicole is currently in first place. If you're not sure if someone on your list is still breathing (and looking to pick a fight with first place) Google/Wikipedia/The Dead Server is your friend.

Wow! I'm very impressed with our teams performance this year and hope we duplicate this experience next year. Congratulations to Becky and Zach for tying the Dead Pool. Seems like the trophy gets to stay at our house for another year. Eat like pigs. Realy, there's more than enough to eat.
There's no such thing as a stupid answer, only stupid questions. That means go ahead and speak up without being afraid of being ridiculed. Let's face it, from the oustide, we're already pretty ridiculous for doing this.
If you bring your computer, you have the right to boot anyone at anytime from your own machine. Don't feel guilty about it either. We have 6 extra machines and those are first come, first served. If you want a guaranteed computer, bring one. We have more than enough connections available.
Remember we also have books (a bunch of them, realy) so let's not be afraid to look there too!
We have a lot of new players this year and I want to thank them for risking it with us and taking the trivia plunge. I have a funny feeling that we'll be seeing most of them at future contests. You won't be disappointed!
If you haven't brought $$$ for team fees or paid for your brand spankin' new Team D.O.A. Hole shirt - bring it with you when you come over to play.

Shake a Hamster Band
Well, the Shake a Hamster Band pulled off a decent set, figuring they
were only half present. And of course Slip Twister played a great set,
as usual. Notes were taken, swag was won, by us of course, and all in
all, a good time was had by all.
Getting really excited now as there's only a week left. Books are in place, the network is runnng smoothly, couldn't ask for much more. Weeeeeee.......!
Remember that this weekend it final tech setup and run through. If yu ahvea computer that needs to be set up to see the network (wireless) bring it over Sat. afternoon and we'll get things working.

Well, the local library's resources are starting to dry up. Certain sections are looking a bit bare (tv, movies, music, collectibles....) so we must be getting close.The HQ is starting to go through it's transformation slowly but surely as the days go by. Move a table here, unload a box of books there. Things are shaping up nicely and I'm really starting to get excited for this year's triviafest.
Remember that we're having a tech dry-run and last minute set-up on Sat. the 2nd at the HQ. If you have an extra router (as someone mentioned at an earlier team meeting - include a cable or two!) or you have a wireless laptop, that's the day to bring it so we can make sure all settings are correct and everyone's online BEFORE the contest starts. I'm not planning on spending time to try and get wi-fi to communicate after it starts. We should have around a dozen computers to start with so I don't imagine a lot of people sitting around without entertainment between questions.
This is also the best time to bring over any books and/or file cabinets of clippings. We'll be at the house all day so stop by whenever (after 12:00 noon anyway) and we'll find a place for your trivial contributions.
We're also expecting the new team shirts to be finished by the end of this week and I'm really stoked about them, they look sweet! If you're planning to go to the Red Carpet/Pre-Trivia party next Sunday, wear it there!

I guess I'm ready to upate now. Our first order of business upon our return is to congratulate Becky on pulling ahead in the Deadpool with Joe Barbera leaving the living. This still leaves Kevin, Andy and Zach with a three-way tie for second, but guess what?
